No Sewing

There is no sewing for me. I had my operation last week and it hurts
like #@%@#. The inner joint on my thumb on my right hand is now removed and fixated. Do you know
how difficult everything is to do without your right hand?

A while back LeKa Quilt had a giveaway and I was one of the luckily winners. Thank you Lena I loved the purse, pin and the fabric !!!! I loved the fabric thus life isn't sweet at the moment. After my doctors appointment last month. They found an arthrodesis in my thumb joint in my right hand and my doctor have schedule an operation in November or in the beginning of December. So there is not much sewing for the moment.

For some time me and my right arm and hand has not been friends and I have not been able to sew. But what better is it to read about quilts. :-)
I have a doctors appointment next week, so maybe he will do something about it.

Still Sewing Pies

I'm still sewing on my Pies 8 are done, so it's only 92 left, but I havn't counted the tarts yet.

There has not been much sewing these past few weeks because my DH was admited to hospital. I used 1 hour to drive one way to visit him and with 2 boys, 3 horses, 1 ponny and 6 dogs I had my hands full, so to speak. :-) But things are better now. DH is home and school starts tomorrow, so then it's soon back to normal.

Today I have prepared the center block to my Antique Sampler. I'm not very fast siticher due to a bad right arm and hand, but small steps and this quilt will be finished some day.

The 4th Large Block

Today I have spendt a lot of time out on my terrace stitching on the 4th large block on the Antique Sampler and it is done. This was the last one in this pattern. Now I have to trace the new shape on a template and start on appliqueing it to the other large blocks

You never know what you don't have until you go to a Quiltshop that has it...

A Finish

The before mentioned knited dress, is finished :-) and given to it's new owner.

Yesterday DH and I visited our new DGD, 5 days old. Isn't she lovely. :-D

Now it's time to continue to stitch on my Antique Sampler and I look forward to do that. I have kind of missed it.

April is almost over

Australian designer Sue Daley was in Norway the week before Easter, and Kathrine's Quilte Stue arranged an evening of inspiration with her as speaker and three days with classes.

I was so lucky to attend all three days. Sue is an amasing teacher and we learned so many good technics that makes paper piecing easy and fun.

Sue had brought with her many of her large quilts to show.

New Bag

This weekend I have used making myself a new bag. This pattern is from the Norwegian designer AnnaKa.
I changed the batting to Fast 2 Fuse, so it would be a little bit stiffer and I am so happy with the result.
Now it's back to stitch TIS.

Kind Guild Friend

Monday I received an E-mail from a member of my guild telling me that I could borrow her pattern for Tis The Season by Natalie Bird, until the pattern I ordered comes. And yesterday it came in the mail. Isn't she great. So this weekend I'm tracing the stitcheries for March and start stitching so I can keep up with everyone in the Stitch-A-Long. I havn't chosen fabrick yet, but I am using DMC thread no. 115.

I have the pattern for the Lollypop Trees quilt by Kim McLean, I just need to clone myself if I want to start stitching it. There are some who love the design, but don't have the time to sew this intricate quilt.
I have also found Glorious Applique blog that you can follow quilters that sew one of Kim McLean's quilts.
This blog is dedicated to applique by hand or machine.

I know that they are going to using threads from Cottage Garden Threads, the same as Leanne. I can't wait to start this one. I just have to do two BOM's at the same time. :-)

Civil War Tribute

This is a BOM that I signed up at Kathrines Quilte Stue in 2008. It has been on my shelf waiting to get done.

My goal is to finish the whole quilt, quilting and all, before the summer!

Christmas calender in redwork

Our DGS had his three years bursday party yesterday for the family. Here he is playing with some of the presents he got.

I love advent and have made this calender in redwork to our DGS. I have put chocolate coins on all the days so he can count down the days to Christmas and have a treat at the same time.

The Road Home

Last weekend I drove from Oslo to Trondheim. And on our way back this meet us at the bottom of the mountain.

There was approximately 20 cm of snow on the mountain. Luckily I had changed to wintertires before my trip.

"Sweet Nostalgia" B.O.M.

Dorothy Baker Designs is launching a free B.O.M. "Sweet Nostalgia". The first stitchery is so sweet and is called "Summer's Gone". So pop over to her blogg and check it out.

This project will have 12 blocks in total, with one block being released around the 15th of each month until August 15, 2010. If you choose to use the blocks as she have planned, the quilt will measure approx. 53" x 67". The finishing instructions will be provided in August 2010, with the final block.

Annual Quiltingtrip with my guild

Saturday our annual quiltingtrip held place. We had hired a bus and went to Fabrikkustsalget Brumunddal AS and Sy-Sammen in Stange

After some serious shopping in Brumunddal we went to Sy-Sammen in Stange. Karin Bækkedals held two demonstrations. First a plait technique.

Here you can see a corner of a quilt, were she has used this technique.

Karin has also a shop with a lot of quilting supplies and fabrics so I continued to shop. This was a very fun day.

Yesterday Kathrines Quilte stue held a inspiration evening. It was a show and tell on the classes given there this autumn, a book launching of Grete Gulliksen Moes latest book and news from the store.

They are having a class on The Lone Star.

Bærum Lappelags guild meeting

Yesterday my guild had the monthly meeting. Trine and Anne-Kjersti from Lappemakeriet was visiting us and talked about needles and threads. It was almost 100 members at the meeting.

Our guild are annualy making a quilt that we raffles in the autumn. Below you can see some details from the quilt.

Today my 3 weeks of vacation is starting and I started on a new project. Hugs'n Kisses Twas the night before Christmas. I prepared it earlier today and now I am sitting outside sewing. I hope there will be a lot of time to sew.

Tail Feathers - Block 1

I have SO enjoyed doing this! I loved the transfers and the applique.

I decided to leave the little patchwork strip at the top until I have more fabric to choose from, so block 1 is done for now.
